Tebaida Nemesio is an exclusive wine, made from century-old vines from the San Salvador de Valtuille de Arriba Vineyard.These vines, planted over a century ago in 1900, are located at an altitude of 700 meters, one of the highest plots at the winery.In these century-old vines, the family patriarch, Nemesio Fernandez Bruña, has made use of a unique way of understanding wine growing in El Bierzo, based on respect for the terroir and the environment using unhurried handcrafted elaboration, accompanied by the latest winemaking techniques.
This wine is a personal creation by the vineyard´s winemaker and technical director, Isidro Fernandez Bello, with grapes selected from one of its most exclusive plots. For this limited edition he presents Tebaida Nemesio as the best tribute to his father.
Harvesting, done by hand, gives way to artisan pressing.Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperatures, between 19° and 20°C, in small vats with a maximum capacity of 5,000 litres.Aging and malolactic fermentation is carried out in select French oak casks, dried naturally by the master cooperfor 36 months, with lingering hints of toast at low temperatures.The wine is then barrel aged on its lees for 18 months.
Clean, bright red wine, cherry colour with hints of cardinal red.An abundant, fast and coloured tear, indicates a long life.Open lingering aromas with good intensity, aging nuances give off the essence of the new wood mingling with wild mountain aromas, rosemary, thyme and flowers, which are absolutely amazing on a background of ripe fruit.Fresh, pleasant and elegant on the palate.Mouth filling yet fresh and silky with abundant fruit.Sweet tannins,very pleasant, balanced and full bodied.The fresh wild mountain bouquet returns in the aftertaste (rosemary, thyme, flowers) and the pleasant fruity balsamics give way to a lingering elegant finish.
Because of its careful and unique elaboration, this wine is perfect as an appetizer and to pair up with dishes containing red meats and cold meat cuts.
